Everyone has dreams, but they tend to be elusive.

• Everyone in the story has a dream, but they are all very elusive, much like rabbits.
• "The rabbits hurried for noiselessly for cover." (pg 2)
• The rabbits evaded George and Lennie. This foreshadows that their dream of having a farm will be difficult to catch. Many of the other characters in the story will also struggle to achieve their dream.
