Picture
  • Lennie: People would be prejudice towards Lennie because he is mentally handicapped. He is also a massive man, so he could be picked on for his size.
  • George: People would judge George for traveling with Lennie. It is rare for people to travel together, and even more odd that George would travel with someone like Lennie.
  • Crooks: People are prejudice towards Crooks because he is African-American, as well as crippled. At one point, Curley's wife threatens to lynch Crooks and knows that she can get away with it because he is black.
  • Curley: Most characters are prejudice towards Curly because he is a bully. People don't want to be around him and don't give him the respect that he thinks he deserves. Example: "Ya know, Lennie, I'm scared I'm gonna tangle with that bastard myself." (pg 37)
  • Curley's wife: She is a woman, and therefore is seen as Curley's property. Also, a majority of the characters see Curley's wife as a slut who tends to lead everybody on, and don't wish to associate with her. Example: "Here, feel right here." (pg 90) She took Lennie's hand and put it on her head.
  • Candy: Some characters are prejudiced towards Candy because he is old. He has outlived his purpose and is getting to old to work. Candy is also a cripple, which would also contribute to his inability to work. Example: Candy says, "I got hurt four years ago. They'll can me putty soon. " (pg 60)
